Working together for conservation!

About Us: Who We Are, What We Do . . .

With over 50 years of volunteerism to its credit, Washington Waterfowl Association, (WWA) is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt, non-profit corporation dedicated to waterfowl conservation and habitat improvement, within the State of Washington.

We are a hands-on organization whose members "put their money (and backs) where their mouths are" literally donating thousands of dollars and thousands of man-hours every year to assist the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife (WDFW) in habitat enhancement projects throughout the state. All of these projects have been on public lands to ensure that our efforts in habitat enhancement benefit all citizens of the state. WWA has been active in these various conservation efforts since its formation in 1945.

A few facts about the WWA:

  • We were established in 1945
  • We are a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization
  • We have 10 chapters throughout Washington, (see list below)
  • We spend all of our resources within Washington
  • We work closely with WDFW & USDFW
  • Several of our members serve on the WDFW Waterfowl Advisory Group
  • We are members of Washingtonians for Wildlife Conservation
  • Our projects include nest box construction, litter pickup projects, nest counts, working with Eagle Scouts and other youth groups, conduct monthly meetings, working at refuges, participation in sportsman's shows, donating funds to youth safety gun classes, conducting hunter education classes, hosting shooting events, building blinds, working with local Tribes,  and assisting with the planting of food plots for waterfowl to name a few!
  • We don't "contract out" our works, our members and their families roll up their sleeves and work together as a team to complete our  projects. We have a real sense of community and fellowship as we donate our time to enhance habitat and promote our favorite pastime, waterfowling!

Our Mission:
We strive to preserve, protect, and improve the sport of water fowling, particularly in the State of Washington. To that end, we are involved in the following activities: We teach respect for all waterfowl species, and improve habitat for them. We conduct educational programs related to waterfowl, conservation, sportsmanship, and hunter safety. We study, advise, recommend, and secure enactment of legislation in the interest of waterfowl hunting. And, we have a lot of fun!
